Planning commercial equipment collection and transport

Describe the load accurately

• Provide the packed dimensions and weight for every item.
• Explain whether equipment is palletised, fragile or top-heavy.
• Identify fluids, batteries or other contents that need special handling.
• Share photographs of the equipment and both access points.

Confirm loading and unloading responsibility

State whether a forklift, crane, tail lift, skates or specialist rigging is required and who will provide it. The collection and delivery sites should each nominate a contact who understands the access plan.

Check access before the vehicle arrives

Door sizes, stairs, loading bays, height limits, parking restrictions and timed access can all affect the vehicle and crew required. Record these details in the transport request rather than leaving them for the collection day.

Agree timing and protection

Confirm the collection window, expected delivery date, packaging requirements and what happens if either site is not ready. Ask the provider to explain the cover applying to the move and any limits or exclusions.
